- Select “Connect with other allotments” option
4. Select one of the eligible allotments from the drop down list and enter a name for that allotment group
Important:
- Only allotments from the units on the same contingent can be connected.
- You can connect allotments even if one or both of them are already connected to other allotments
- The connected allotments will be colored blue and they will display the sum of their individual capacities.
Booking the connected allotments
When you hover over connected allotments, it will be clear from the tool tip how many bookings are made for that particular allotment and how many bookings are made for all the connected allotments in the group.
Note: When you make a booking on one of the connected allotments, the capacity will be reduced for all connected allotments.
Disconnect the previously connected allotments
- Click on the Availability tab
- Click on the allotment you wish to disconnect
- Select “Disconnect allotment from group” option
Important:
- Only allotments from the units on the same contingent can be connected.
- After disconnecting from the group, both the allotment and the group that remains will get at least the amount of capacity as the number of bookings they have. The rest of the free capacity will be split evenly between them.
Example:
For instance, let’s say we have 3 connected allotments whose combined capacity is 30. First allotment has 3 bookings, second one 5 bookings and the third one 7 booking. If we disconnect the first allotment from the group, first, 3 allotment capacities will be assigned to it, because it has 3 bookings. The group that remains will first get 12 allotment capacities, because the group has 5 + 7 bookings. That’s a total of 15 capacities, so that means that there are still 15 capacities to split evenly between them. Since that disconnected allotment was ⅓ of the group, it will get ⅓ of the free capacities that remain, i.e. it will get ⅓ of the 15 (which is 5) free capacities. So, the total number of capacities that the first allotment gets is 3 + 5 = 8. The rest of the group is ⅔ of the original group before disconnecting, and it will get ⅔ of the free capacities that remained, which is 10. So, the group will get 12 + 10 = 22 capacities. You can see that 8 + 22 is 30, the number of total capacities that the original group had.
